No final decision yet on Nigeria Air, airport concessioning deal, Keyamo clarifies

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has clarified that there is no final decision on the Nigerian air and airport concessioning projects yet.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the two projects were implemented under the aviation roadmap of the immediate past administration.

But the project became the subject of controversy as many stakeholders in the aviation industry accused former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika of non-compliance with due process.

Speaking during a tour of Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday, Mr Keyamo said the concession and the national carrier would be on hold until further notice.

But while shedding more light on the issue on his X handle, the minister said the projects were suspended to allow a review of the process and address the complaint of Nigerians.

He wrote: “No final decision has been taken on the issues of airports’ concessions and national carrier.

“They are only suspended until all processes that are ALLEGEDLY non-transparent and leading to those decisions are reviewed and all complaints are assessed for the benefit of Nigerians and Mr. President is fully briefed.”
