Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has flagged off the training of 7,000 recruits for the Kaduna Vigilance Service to complement the efforts of other security agencies tackling kidnapping, armed robbery, and other related crimes in the state.
The governor explained that the 7,000 recruits, being trained at the Police College, Kaduna, in the state capital, were drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state.
He said after their intensive and vigorous training, the recruits would complement the efforts of security agencies to rid the state of crimes.
The governor said, “The Kaduna Vigilance Service is a complementary security outfit. It will assist the security agencies with actionable intelligence. With its knowledge of the local environment, bandits will have no hiding place.”
According to the governor, the recruitment became necessary following the shortfall of regular security operatives across the state, saying that the commencement of the training was a major step towards fulfilling his promise to Kaduna people.
