Subsidy removal: Kano Govt commences distribution of palliatives

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has commenced the distribution of bags of rice to residents of the state.

He noted that about 1060 people would benefit from the gesture, stressing that other food items, like millet, corn, among others, would also be distributed to the vulnerable group.

Governor Yusuf maintained that the government had made a befitting plan through the establishment of various committees to ensure adequate distribution of the food items.

He disclosed this during the formal flag-off of the agricultural intervention programme held in Kano.

According to him, the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

He warned that any government official found wanting in the process of the distribution of the food items would be dealt with accordingly.

The governor further explained that people living with disabilities would be given special consideration during the process of distributing the palliative, geared towards ensuring that the food items reach the vulnerable groups in the society.

During the ceremony, farm inputs were also distributed to farmers with the sole aim of boosting agricultural products in the state.

The distribution of food items to the vulnerable and the less-privileged across the 44 local government areas of the state, started with four local government areas of the state.
