Osun monarch escapes assassination attempt

An Osun State monarch, the Alamo of Ayegbaju Ijesa, Oba Abideen Adeyemi, narrowly escaped an attempt on his life in Ilesa on Saturday.

A source who did not wish to be named revealed to Media Talk Africa that yet to be identified gunmen opened fire on Oba Adeyemi and his driver in Ilesa town.

The Alamo who celebrated his 18th coronation anniversary at the ancient town on Saturday, was reportedly ambushed by the gunmen shortly after event.

It was gathered that he was hit by bullets.

The source also disclosed that the monarch and his driver were rescued and rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

Reacting to the news of the shooting, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, said the incident is being investigated.

Opalola assured that the culprits would be brought to book.
