LG election: Provide level playing ground for political parties – Jigawa Gov, Namadi tells JISIEC

Governor Umar A. Namadi has warned the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JSIEC) to ensure a level playing ground for all political parties ahead of the local government election in the state.

This was contained in a re-appointment letter of Auwalu Muhammad Harbo as the Chairman of JISIEC obtained by Media Talk Africa.

It was reported that the governor has approved the appointment of Harbo and three Commissioners in the Commission after the State House of Assembly had screened and confirmed the appointees.

The three appointed Commissioners are Auwalu Shehu Jahun, Ibrahim Ahmed Sani, and Ibrahim Babangida.

The letter, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim, explained that the appointments are based on merit, competence, and personal integrity.

The statement said all the appointments take immediate effect.

The local government election is expected to be held in June 2024.
