National Youth Games: Enugu parades 59 athletes

The Enugu State Government said on Tuesday that it would be attending the 2023 National Youth Games, NYG, scheduled to hold Asaba, Delta, with 59 athletes and 19 officials.

The Director, Organising, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Boniface Onovo, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

Mr Onovo said that the state would be participating in nine events and that the movement of the contingent would be in two batches.

“The advance party will be moving on Wednesday, while the main contingent will move on Thursday.

He said that the 59 contingent included players of the male football and handball team, the two team sports that qualified for the games.

The Director listed the other seven sports to include, Boxing, Athletics, Para-Athletics, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Taekwondo and Judo.

NAN reports that the NYG involving participants from the 36 states of the Federation and FCT is scheduled to commence on Sept. 20 and end on Sept. 30.
