The North-East Elders for Restoration (NEER), a prominent pressure group, has enthusiastically praised the ongoing nationwide military clearance operations, particularly those targeting Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, NEER President Bello Katagum and Secretary Alhaji Sani Sanusi expressed their utmost appreciation for General Christopher Musa’s appointment as Chief of Defence Staff. They firmly believe that Nigeria’s security will significantly improve under his leadership.
The group highlighted the notable security improvements witnessed in the North East region when General Musa served as the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai. They attributed the return of displaced persons to their livelihoods and the surrender of a significant number of terrorists and their families to the military’s effective operations during his leadership.
“We are not surprised that he has brought the same attributes to his role as the Chief of Defence Staff,” affirmed the group. “Despite the noise from terrorists and bandits, we have full confidence that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are in capable hands. Soon, Nigerians will rejoice as enemies of peace become defeated.”
The elders also commended the military for fostering stronger collaboration among the different services and security agencies, resulting in positive outcomes nationwide.
They emphasized the importance of ongoing support from Nigerians to ensure that the military’s sacrifices for peace and stability are not in vain.
