The Kano State Police Command has lifted the 24-hour curfew imposed on the city, bringing back a sense of normalcy to the bustling metropolis.

The decision to lift the curfew came after Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf directed security authorities to bring an end to the dusk-to-dawn restrictions that were put in place.

The 24-hour curfew was initially imposed by the state government, in collaboration with the police, shortly after the announcement of the State Governorship Elections Tribunal judgment. This judgment nullified Governor Yusuf’s election, leading to the need for increased security measures.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, conveyed the uplifting news of the curfew being lifted.

Since the relaxation of the curfew, the bustling streets of Kano have sprung back to life. Vehicular movement has resumed on the major roads, and the once-deserted shops and street hawkers have swiftly resumed their businesses, eager to make up for lost time.
