Gov Lawal Convenes Urgent Meeting with Security Heads Following Abduction of Students in Zamfara

The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has called for an emergency security meeting in response to the recent abduction of students from the Federal University in Gusau.

The Emergency Security Council meeting was convened following the kidnapping of students from their off-campus residence in Sabo Gida village, located in Bungudu Local Government Area.

Issuing a statement on Friday, the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, emphasized that the objective of the emergency meeting is to find a lasting solution to the prevailing issue of insecurity that has become a major concern for the administration.

Furthermore, the Governor has instructed the Deputy Governor, Mani Mallam Mummuni, to provide full support to the security agencies in order to restore normalcy in all affected areas.

During the meeting, the security chiefs assured the Deputy Governor of their unwavering commitment to bringing peace back to the State. They also confirmed that six kidnap victims had been successfully rescued by troops.

The Security Chiefs further assured that many kidnappers had been neutralized and that active efforts are underway to rescue all remaining victims.

In response, Mani Mallam Mummuni urged the heads of the security agencies to increase the presence of troops in volatile areas for enhanced surveillance.

The Deputy Governor has reassured the people of Zamfara that security operatives are working relentlessly to address the current situation.
