Abia, Niger, and Abuja Lead in Highest Diesel Prices, Reports NBS

In a recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), it has been revealed that Abia, Niger, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have recorded the highest prices of diesel across Nigeria.

Price Comparison

According to the data provided by the NBS for the month of August, the price of diesel per litre in Abia State was N970.00, in Niger State it was N960.14, and in Abuja, it stood at N950.22. This data highlights the significant price disparities in diesel across different regions of the country.

Regional Variations

On the other hand, the states with the lowest diesel prices per litre were Bayelsa State (N700.00), Katsina State (N771.43), and Kaduna State (N775.42). This reflects a significant difference in diesel costs compared to the previously mentioned states.

Price Increase

The NBS report also indicated that in August 2023, the price of diesel increased by 8.57 percent. It rose from N786.88 per litre in the corresponding month to N854.32 per litre. This significant price hike has placed a further burden on consumers and businesses alike.
