Nigerian Society of Engineers Decorates 142 New Fellows in Abuja

In a grand ceremony held in Abuja, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has proudly bestowed the prestigious title of Fellow upon 142 distinguished individuals. The newly decorated fellows underwent a rigorous screening process to ensure their exceptional qualifications and commitment to the engineering profession.

The President/Chairman-in-Council of NSE, Mr. Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil, officiated the event and warmly congratulated the new fellows for their remarkable achievement. Emphasizing the significance of this attainment, Gidari-Wudil remarked, “As a Fellow of the Society, you have automatically assumed the responsibility of being a role model and mentor to younger engineers. You will also be expected to increase your participation in NSE activities and make valuable contributions to the growth of the Society. In addition, it is expected that you will always uphold good character and ethical values, portraying yourself as a worthy NSE Ambassador as you deliver value-adding services in your respective endeavors towards the development of our beloved nation.”

Highlighting the NSE’s dedication to addressing contemporary engineering issues, Gidari-Wudil announced that the Society intends to organize a national discourse on the subject of road construction materials in Nigeria. This decision follows the recent debate sparked by statements made by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, regarding the preferred and most potent materials for building roads. The discourse, titled “National Highways: Between Asphalt and Concrete,” will include participation from relevant stakeholders, including the Federal and State Ministries of Works. The event’s details will be announced in due course as planning is already underway.

Furthermore, Gidari-Wudil reminded the Fellows about the upcoming Annual Engineering Conference, Exhibition, and Annual General Meeting of the Society, scheduled to take place from November 27th to December 1st, 2023. The conference’s theme, “Re-Engineering the Manufacturing Sector for Competitiveness and Enhanced Economic Growth,” reflects the Society’s commitment to driving sustainable development and progress.

With this momentous occasion, the NSE celebrates the accomplishments of these exceptional engineers and looks forward to their continued contributions to the profession and society at large.
