Operation Safe Haven, a military task force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna States, has achieved a major breakthrough in its efforts to combat illegal arms proliferation. The task force recently uncovered a gun factory in Kafachan, Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation, led by Captain James Oya, revealed the gun factory during a week-long intelligence operation conducted by the troops. Additionally, the team apprehended a suspected gunrunner named Napoleon John and seized various types of weapons and ammunition.
The discovery of the gun factory is a significant development in the fight against crime and insurgency in the region. The factory was reportedly operated by Monday Dunia, another individual involved in the illegal arms trade, who had been fueling the crisis in Kaduna State and neighboring Plateau for over five years.
During the operation, the military recovered a total of 22 different weapons, including pistols, AK-47 rifles, revolvers, and submachine guns. Various types of ammunition, live rounds, machine tools, and other related items were also confiscated.
The operation also extended to Adua 1 community in Kafanchan, where two additional AK-47 rifles, revolver rifles, ammunition, dangerous daggers, and other weapons were seized. In addition to the firearms and ammunition, the troops uncovered several pieces of incriminating evidence, such as police uniforms, masks, identity cards, gunpowder, and charms.
Expressing his satisfaction with the operation, the Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar commended the troops for their diligence and urged them to remain committed to their mission. He further called on sponsors and perpetrators of criminal activities to renounce their ways and embrace lawful means of livelihood.
The military operation would not have been successful without the cooperation and support of the residents of Kaduna State. The task force extends its gratitude to the people and solicits further assistance in maintaining peace and security in the state.
This significant progress by the Nigerian military underscores their commitment to restoring peace and stability in regions affected by insecurity. The busting of the gun factory and recovery of weapons is a major step forward in the fight against crime and insurgency, and it is reflective of the relentless efforts of security forces in Nigeria.
