Nigerian Army Commits To Civil-Military Coordination Projects

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has declared commitment to Civil-Military Coordination Projects around the country, saying the main objective is to complement the already existing basic services, amenities and infrastructure in the communities.

The COAS clarified at the commissioning and official handover ceremony of school infrastructure and some facilities to the students and staff of Ikare Grammar School, Ikare Akoko, Akoko North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The project was executed by the Nigerian Army (NA), through an officer and alumnus of the school, Maj. Gen. Lukman Omoniyi, included: a newly built block of 4 classrooms, one staff room, installation of borehole and provision of 60 chairs and tables for both the students and staff of the school.

Lagbaja, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan, Maj. Gen. Bamidele Alabi stated that the NA embarked on the project with the sole aim of providing succour to the people in areas of their needs, strengthening the relationships in the communities, as well as providing support to serving senior NA officers.

In his welcoming remarks, the facilitator and project executor, Maj. Gen. Lukman Omoniyi, thanked the COAS for finding him worthy to benefit from the laudable idea, urging the school to make good use of the classrooms and facilities and admonished the beneficiaries to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities, so they could serve the purpose they were built for in the first place.

In attendance at the event include the Chief of Civil-Military Coordination Army, Maj. Gen. Nosakhare Ugbo; Ondo State Head of Service, Kayode Ogundele; Ondo State Commissioner of Education, Femi Agagu; royal fathers, as well as students of the school.
