Security Forces Stop Attempted Kidnapping in Katsina Community

A daring attempt by a gang of approximately 50 kidnappers to abduct residents of Tijjani Malumfashi Housing Estate in Katsina State was foiled over the weekend, thanks to a joint operation by security agents.

The incident occurred around 11:00 pm on Saturday, when the armed criminals stormed the area, brandishing dangerous weapons and firing shots in order to intimidate the residents. However, their malicious intentions were thwarted by the swift response of security forces.

In an official statement released on Monday, the spokesperson for Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, highlighted the strategic tactics employed by the kidnappers, who strategically positioned themselves throughout the neighborhood and began conducting house-to-house operations.

Unfortunately, before help could arrive, six individuals were forcefully taken from their homes and bound and blindfolded. However, the arrival of the security forces in the nick of time prevented further abductions and led to the rescue of those who had already been taken, including a Judge identified as Alkali Saidu.

Governor Radda commended the courageous efforts of the Malumfashi Divisional Police Officer, Bello Umar, the Nigerian Army troops, and local vigilantes for their exceptional bravery in repelling the attack. He stressed the importance of collaboration between security agencies in the fight against insurgents, bandits, and other criminal elements that pose a threat to the nation.

Radda further highlighted the successful response operation carried out by the Malumfashi police team, military units, and local vigilantes in Katsina as a shining example of heroism that the rest of the state’s security personnel should strive to emulate.
