An influential youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hyde Kalu, has made a heartfelt plea to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, to withdraw the lawsuit he filed against President Bola Tinubu in the United States.
In the lawsuit, Atiku requested a US district court to compel Tinubu’s alma mater, Chicago State University, to release the President’s academic records.
However, Kalu, in a statement issued on Monday, emphasized the significance of allowing Nigeria’s judiciary to handle disputes stemming from the 2023 presidential election.
Currently, Nigeria is facing international ridicule due to the legal controversy unfolding in the United States.
Therefore, as a result of the negative attention being brought upon the nation, the APC youth leader sincerely implored Atiku to spare the country of this unnecessary embarrassment.
Kalu further stated, “Atiku is a great statesman, and it is undeniable that he has deep affection for Nigeria.
“Without a doubt, no Nigerian citizens are content with the manner in which our country is being ridiculed by this court ruling in the United States.
“Out of love for our nation and in order to spare Nigerians the shame that this process may ultimately bring, it is paramount that we appeal to Atiku to abandon this case and refrain from exposing our internal disputes to the international community.”
The passionate youth leader emphasized that within our capacity as patriotic countrymen, there exists a civil and respectable approach to addressing these concerns, with the goal of sparing Nigerians from the impending disgrace that awaits us.
Moving forward, Kalu appealed to Atiku, urging him to prioritize the well-being and reputation of the country, taking into consideration the longstanding friendship between himself and President Tinubu.
“The election has concluded, and a president has been elected. We are all human beings, which is why I beseech Atiku to withdraw the case in America, for the sake of our beloved country and in light of the bond that exists between him and President Tinubu,” the statement concluded.
