Deputy Senate President Engages Senate Press Corps in an Interactive Session

The Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Jibrin Barau, recently held an interactive session with members of the Senate Press Corps (SPC) in his office in Abuja. During the session, Senator Barau expressed his unwavering support and positive disposition towards the journalists, while urging them to prioritize the well-being of the Senate and Nigeria as a whole.

In his remarks, Senator Barau acknowledged the longstanding friendship between him and the journalists, particularly those in the Senate Press Corps. He emphasized the importance of their role in reporting the activities of his office and the Senate as a whole, and how such reportage can contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria. As a testament to his commitment, the Deputy Senate President extended an invitation to one member of the Senate Press Corps to serve as one of his appointed aides in his office, ensuring easy access for accurate and balanced reporting.

Senator Barau expressed his gratitude to the journalists for their support during his pursuit of the Senate presidency in the 10th National Assembly. Although he eventually settled for the position of Deputy Senate President, he acknowledged the significant contribution of the Senate Press Corps in projecting his aspirations during the election period.

James Itodo, Chairman of the Senate Press Corps, commended the Deputy Senate President for his consistent positive disposition towards the members of the corps. He expressed well wishes for Senator Barau’s success in his current role and future political endeavors. As a token of appreciation, Itodo presented a congratulatory card to the Deputy Senate President on behalf of the Senate Press Corps.
