Senate Screens Dr Olayemi Cardoso and Four Others for Key Positions in the Central Bank of Nigeria

The Senate has commenced the screening process for the appointment of Dr Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Additionally, four nominees for the position of CBN Deputy Governor are also undergoing screening. These nominees include Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.

During the interactive session with the Senators, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso expressed his commitment to implementing the 2023 Finance Act and addressing various economic challenges currently faced by the country.

It is important to note that the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the new Governor of the CBN was previously approved by President Bola Tinubu, pending confirmation by the Senate.
