Jigawa State Government to Incorporate Citizens’ Inputs in 2024 Budget

The Jigawa State government has announced its commitment to considering the inputs of its citizens in the preparation of the 2024 budget. This decision was disclosed by the state’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Babangida Umar Gantsa, during a town hall meeting held with stakeholders.

The town hall meeting, which took place at the State Secretariat in Dutse, was jointly organized by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and the Exceptional Leadership and Integrity Promotion Initiative (ELIP) on Tuesday.

Alhaji Gantsa emphasized the significance of citizen engagement in shaping priorities, as it reinforces transparency and accountability. He stated, “The Jigawa government places great importance on incorporating citizens’ inputs in the annual budget to facilitate the development of the state.”

Comrade Isah Mustapha, the Executive Director of ELIP, urged citizens to focus on qualitative aspects in their budget proposals for the state’s development. He commended the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for providing an avenue for citizens’ inputs, which enhances transparency and accountability within the budgetary process.
