DSS Establishes Directorate of Public Relations, Peter Afunanya Named Director

The Department of State Services (DSS) has made a significant move towards enhancing engagement with Nigerians and promoting democratic governance, transparency, and accountability. DSS Director General, Yusuf Bichi, has established the new Directorate of Public Relations and Strategic Communications (DPRSC).

In a statement issued by the DSS DPRSC, it was announced that Peter Afunanya, the secret police spokesman, has been appointed as the head of the Directorate. Afunanya’s appointment took effect on September 26, 2023.

The statement reads, “Consequently, Peter Nnochirionye Afunanya, Ph.D, fsi, formerly the Public Relations Officer, has been appointed as the supervising Director of the Directorate. He will also be responsible for overseeing the Service’s public communications.” The DSS expresses its appreciation to Director General Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi CFR, fwc, for undertaking this expansion and appointing Afunanya to lead the Directorate.”
