In a heartwarming display of interfaith solidarity, Christian pastors in Kaduna joined their Muslim counterparts to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, at the Kaduna Stadium on Wednesday. The event, aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence and inter-religious tolerance, served as a platform for Christians and Muslims to come together, engage in dialogue, and promote peace and unity in Nigeria.

A Unified Celebration for Peace

Leading the group of Christian leaders at the Maulud celebration was Pastor Yohanna Buru, the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry. Alongside him were pastors George John, Maxwell Sanda, Gabriel Stephen, and Rowland Sanda. Highlighting the significance of celebrating together, Pastor Buru emphasized the shared roots of both faiths, stating, “We must remember that we were all created by one God, and we are the children of Adam and Eve. We both have our holy scriptures, the Bible and the Qur’an, from one God, guiding us on how to live in peace and harmony with each other.”

Promoting Peace, Unity, and Forgiveness

During his speech at the gathering, Pastor Buru urged people of different tribes and religions to embrace one another and exhibit love and forgiveness as a means to move the country forward. He expressed deep concern about the escalating insecurity plaguing Nigeria, including incidents of killings, banditry, kidnappings, and ethno-religious crises. In light of these challenges, Buru emphasized the need for continuous prayers and divine intervention.

Emphasizing Interfaith Dialogue

By participating in the Maulud celebration, the Christian pastors and Muslim clerics sought to promote interfaith dialogue and a deeper understanding between their respective religious communities. The event provided an opportunity for Christians and Muslims to interact, exchange ideas, and forge stronger bonds of friendship. This gesture of unity not only strengthens the fabric of Kaduna’s society but also serves as an exemplary model for religious harmony across Nigeria.

A Blueprint for Peaceful Coexistence

As Nigeria grapples with challenges of religious tensions and conflicts, the joint celebration of Maulud by Christian pastors and Muslim clerics in Kaduna offers a beacon of hope. Inspired by their unwavering commitment to peace and unity, other communities and religious leaders are encouraged to follow their example and work towards building a nation where diversity is celebrated, and religious harmony prevails.
