NASENI Boss Urges Staff to Produce Alternative Fuel Powered Vehicles

In a bid to reduce the cost of living for Nigerians, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Halilu, has called on the management staff to come up with ideas on how to provide alternative fuels to power vehicles in Nigeria.

Halilu emphasized that this initiative aligns with the priorities of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts. He made this statement during a series of briefings with the Managing Directors of NASENI’s 10 Development Institutes, located in Enugu, Minna, Awka, Okene, Nnewi, Kano, Jalingo, Akure, Ilesha, and Nasarawa.

“Our Institutes are the engines of NASENI’s innovation, and these briefings are crucial as we work together to shape the future of NASENI in line with the President’s socio-economic agenda,” said Halilu.

The briefings, which commenced on Monday, are being held ahead of the EVC’s planned visit to NASENI facilities across the institutes, scheduled to begin in October. During the briefings, Team Leads of various NASENI projects and the Agency’s Research Directors also presented their respective projects and efforts to Halilu.

Moreover, on Tuesday, September 19, Halilu inaugurated a Committee to address staff welfare, as part of his commitment to make NASENI a public sector employer of choice in Nigeria. The Committee, composed of middle-level and junior staff, has been tasked with producing a Human Resources revamp plan for NASENI.

“Our junior staff are at the forefront of our work, bearing the greatest burdens, and therefore deserving of special attention, support, and welfare,” stated Halilu.

Wrapping up the week, Halilu paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, on Friday, September 22, at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in advancing research in methanol production, lithium mining, and natural medicine.

Expressing his confidence in the partnership, Halilu said, “I have no doubt that NASENI has a strong and committed partner in the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.”

During his visit, Halilu also met with Mustapha Gajibo, a young Nigerian innovator based in Maiduguri, Borno State, who specializes in converting petrol-fired vehicles to use gas and solar energy. Halilu expressed his enthusiasm for the achievements of young Nigerians in science and technology and affirmed NASENI’s commitment to supporting inspiring stories from every corner of the country.
