The Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization has made the decision to move the venue of its upcoming Igbo Day celebration, originally scheduled to take place at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to an undisclosed and restricted location in the same state. This move comes in light of safety concerns and a perceived threat of an impending attack on the event.
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, made this announcement, explaining that the decision to change the venue was taken in order to prevent any potential attack or disturbance during the celebration.
Isiguzoro, in an interview with Media Talk Africa on Thursday morning, stated, “The venue of this year’s Igbo Day, which was originally planned to be held at the Liberation Stadium, has been shifted to a secure and unidentified location in Rivers State.
“This decision was made following security reports indicating a planned attack and disruption of the event. We have already informed those who will be in attendance about this recent development.”
