Naira Marley Expresses Willingness to Return to Nigeria if Safety is Assured

Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has stated that he is prepared to come back to Nigeria in order to clear his name regarding his alleged involvement in the death of his former label signee, Mohbad.

During an interview with Social Media influencer, Reno Omokri, which was monitored by The Punch, Naira Marley made this revelation on Wednesday. He expressed his readiness to return to the country, provided that the police can guarantee his safety.

Social Media Outrage

The death of Mohbad has triggered a wave of outrage on social media, as several videos have surfaced showing the late singer accusing Naira Marley of orchestrating his assault.

In his first interview since the controversy erupted, the label boss addressed the negative portrayal of his character in the media. He stressed that there is a lot of mob mentality driven by the media, and emphasized his willingness to return to Nigeria if security agencies can ensure his safety.

Allegations of Suicidal Thoughts

Naira Marley also claimed that Mohbad had struggled with suicidal thoughts during his lifetime. He recounted an incident in which Mohbad’s girlfriend called him while he was in America, informing him that Mohbad had locked himself in the toilet and expressed intentions to commit suicide.

Concerned for the artist’s well-being, Naira Marley called him and recorded their conversation, seeking to understand the reasons behind his distress. He advised Mohbad to take a break from the family stress and assured him of his support.

In the interview, Naira Marley stated, “If your family is stressing you out, leave.”
