Osumoghu Airstrikes: Residents of Anambra Community Flee Homes Amidst Fear of Attack

Fear has gripped the residents of Osumoghu community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, as they flee their homes following airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). The airstrikes targeted camps believed to be occupied by terrorists affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

In a recent press release, Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson for NAF, confirmed that the airstrikes successfully hit their intended targets, forcing the terrorists to disperse. However, in the wake of the bombings, indigenes of Osumoghu have grown increasingly anxious that the fleeing terrorists may regroup and launch retaliatory attacks on their community.

According to a reliable source, “Our people are abandoning their homes in droves. There are widespread rumors that the terrorists are regrouping and anyone they come across could be their next target. These individuals are ruthless and have no regard for their own kin, which is why nobody wants to take any chances with them. I personally live in Awka, but my relatives in the village have all fled.”

Gabkwet reiterated in the press release that the airstrikes were carried out based on credible intelligence suggesting that the terrorists were planning to launch attacks on local communities.

As the residents of Osumoghu community evacuate their homes, it is evident that the fear of potential violence continues to haunt them. The unfolding situation further emphasizes the need for heightened security measures and support for the affected residents.
