Nigerians have expressed their admiration for Dana Airline Pilot Captain Abiodun Lawal and First Officer Toluwase Oluwani for successfully landing a plane under challenging weather conditions at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The flight departed from Lagos in southwest Nigeria and had over 140 passengers on board.
As the aircraft approached the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Captain Abiodun Lawal executed a go-around strategy to ensure the safety of all passengers.
Captain Abiodun Lawal explained that the poor visibility caused by bad weather necessitated the go-around procedure in order to secure a safe landing.
“A go-around is a vital safety measure that ensures the runway, approach, and aircraft conditions are suitable for landing.”
“At Dana Air, we are committed to prioritizing the safety and comfort of our passengers and crew. We adhere to global safety standards,” Captain Lawal added.
It is worth noting that Dana Air recently recruited and trained over 20 Nigerian pilots to enhance the safety of air travel and contribute to the development of the aviation industry.
In a trending video on social media, the elated passengers could be seen taking pictures with the captain and the first officer, commending them for their exceptional safety consciousness.
Dana Air is a Nigerian domestic airline that operates a mixed fleet of seven Boeing aircraft, offering daily flights to major cities in the country.
