Erisco Foods Plans to Sue Negative Product Reviewer, Egoji, for N5bn Damages

The president of Erisco Foods, Eric Umeofia, has announced that the company intends to file a N5 billion lawsuit against Chioma Egoji, a Facebook user, over her negative reviews of their product. Umeofia made this revelation during a recent interview on Arise Television.

According to Umeofia, Egoji’s sole purpose was to tarnish the reputation of Erisco Foods. He further revealed that Egoji had sent an apology to the police regarding her review.

However, Umeofia stated that if Egoji fails to publicly apologize, they will proceed with the lawsuit, seeking damages in the amount of N5 billion. He argued, “I will sue her even if she settles with the Nigeria Police; what about the harm she has caused to me?”

In September 17, 2023, a wave of controversy erupted online when Egoji posted a negative review of Erisco Foods’ Tomato Paste. As a result, she was arrested at the request of Erisco Foods due to the malicious nature of her review.

Fortunately, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) intervened, securing Egoji’s release.
