The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army (NA) recently held a graduation ceremony at the 3 Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State. The ceremony marked the graduation of young soldiers who underwent training in the Basic Battle Course.
During the ceremony on Thursday, 28th September 2023, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), urged the graduands to apply the skills they acquired to promptly respond to and address emerging threats to the security of lives and properties.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Ishaku Takwa, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 3 Division, General Abdulsalam emphasized the need for continuous training to enhance the capacity of troops in safeguarding the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens, considering the ongoing security challenges both in Nigeria and globally.
Brigadier General Michael Agi, the representative of the GOC, highlighted the importance of battlefield-specific training for young soldiers to achieve desired results on the battlefield. He further affirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to training as a pivotal means of equipping personnel with professional knowledge and skills, aligning with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a trained, equipped, and highly motivated force in a joint environment.
Colonel Aminu Aliyu, the Division Training Officer (DTO), expressed his gratitude to the GOC/Commander OPSH for his visionary leadership and strategic guidance, especially in developing the training curriculum for the young soldiers. He acknowledged that the training received would better equip the soldiers to confront various security challenges within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The course’s Chief Instructor, Major FA Akingboju, highlighted the comprehensive training the young soldiers underwent, which included tactics, drill, physical combat training, weapon handling, fieldcraft, ethics, regimentation, and warrior ethos. The aim of the training was to prepare them for the theater of operations. The graduation ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the graduates and group photographs.
