Police Operatives Foil Attempted Bribery and Arrest Alleged Cultists in Nasarawa

Police operatives in Nasarawa state have made a remarkable stand against corruption and crime by rejecting a bribe of thirty thousand naira from an alleged cultist.

Confirming this commendable act, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, addressed the press during a parade of suspects at the police headquarters in Lafia, the state capital.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives from Nasarawa Division, in collaboration with the Vigilante group, carried out a sting operation at a notorious hideout for cultists located at Tammah, Nasarawa LGA. As a result, four individuals were apprehended:

  • Ahmadu Joseph, a graduate of Benue State University Makurdi
  • Ifeanyi Aniogbe, a student of Library Science Department, Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa
  • John Shuaibu, a student of Urban and Regional Planning, Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa
  • James Uyona, a student of the Department of Marketing, Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa

During the operation, police recovered several incriminating items, including a locally fabricated pistol, three live cartridges, two black berets with the inscription of the Neo Black Movement Confraternity, a Black Axe, a sword, a machete, a mask, and other occultic items. These items serve as crucial evidence against the suspects.

The situation took an intriguing turn when Joseph Ahmadu attempted to bribe the police operatives with thirty thousand naira, hoping to evade further legal complications. However, the officers steadfastly refused the bribe, choosing to uphold the law and justice. The money, offered as a bribe, has now been recovered as an exhibit.
