TCN Restores Power Supply to Kebbi State: Normalcy Returns

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored the bulk power supply to Birinin Kebbi and its surrounding areas. This development comes as a relief to the residents of Kebbi State, who endured a two-week blackout due to a fire outbreak at the TCN substation in Birinin Kebbi.

Swift Response and Dedicated Efforts

According to Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, power supply was reinstated on September 29 at approximately 9:20 am. The restoration was made possible by the diligent efforts of the TCN team, who worked tirelessly to ensure the 150MVA and 60MVA transformers were unaffected by the fire incident.

Mbah also highlighted the commitment of Engr. Sule Abdulazeez, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of TCN, who pledged to restore bulk power supply within two weeks of the unfortunate incident. The prompt response and dedicated efforts of the TCN team enabled them to keep this commitment.

Achieving Milestones

While power supply to Sokoto was restored through the Kaduna-Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Talatan Mafara 132KV line on September 15, the TCN engineers continued to work assiduously to extend the restoration to Kebbi State and its environs. Furthermore, the team of engineers is currently endeavoring to include the 132KV Birinin Kebbi-Sokoto line in the power supply restoration, which would enable carrying additional load.

The TCN reinforcement teams from different regions, along with the provision of new cables and the connection of existing transformers, expedited the reconnection work. These collaborative efforts paved the way for the successful restoration of power supply to Kebbi State.

Gratitude and Commitment

Mbah expressed profound gratitude to the electricity customers in Kebbi State and its environs for their understanding and patience during the period of darkness. He also extended his appreciation to all stakeholders for their support, prayers, understanding, and sympathy during this challenging time.

Despite the challenges faced, TCN remains steadfast in its commitment to pursuing network expansion projects relentlessly. These projects are essential in meeting the increasing demands of the distribution companies and ensuring reliable power supply to the people.

In conclusion, the successful restoration of power supply to Birinin Kebbi and its environs marks a significant milestone for TCN. The dedication and swift response of the TCN team have brought back normalcy to Kebbi State, providing uninterrupted power supply to its residents once again.
