Tragedy Strikes as 8 out of 25 Kidnapped CAC Choristers Escape Captors in Ondo

In a shocking incident, eight out of twenty-five choristers from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Oke-Igan, Akure, Ondo State capital, managed to escape from their captors after being kidnapped by gunmen.

The abduction of the choir members was confirmed by the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye.

According to Adeleye, the victims made a daring escape while they were being forcefully taken into the forest by the armed men in the Owo/Ose axis of the state.

However, the remaining victims are still being held captive, prompting a swift response from the security agencies in the state.

In a united effort, the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Amotekun Corps, and the Nigerian Army have launched a joint comprehensive search operation to locate and rescue the kidnapped victims.

The primary objective of this operation is to track down the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the remaining captives, as emphasized by Commander Adeleye.

Providing an update on the situation, the Police spokesperson in the state stated, “Eight victims have been rescued, and efforts are ongoing to rescue the others unharmed. The rescued victims have identified themselves as members of CAC Oke Igan, Akure.”

Detailing the unfortunate incident, the spokesperson added, “They were on their way to a burial wake. Upon reaching Ajagbale via Elegbeka on the Ifon/Owo Motorway, they were accosted by five unknown gunmen who shot sporadically and forcefully took them into the bush.”
