Popular Comedian Okey Bakassi Reveals Being Approached to Peddle Drugs in Nigeria and Abroad

In a recent interview on Channels TV, the well-known comedian and actor Okechukwu Onyegbule, popularly known as Okey Bakassi, opened up about the shocking experiences he had when approached to be involved in drug trafficking in Nigeria and abroad.

Bakassi unveiled the extent of his encounters with fraudsters and drug dealers who allured him with lucrative offerings to join their illicit trade.

In a video that has gone viral, he emphasizes how entertainers are frequently targeted for such illegal activities.

Despite the potential financial gain, Bakassi stood firm in his refusal to partake in these unlawful activities and opted to maintain a simple and clean lifestyle.

The popular entertainer recalls, “When I first arrived in Lagos as a young man, I was enticed by various individuals in numerous ways, particularly fraudsters and drug dealers.”

“I was approached numerous times. Being in the entertainment industry exposes you to these solicitation attempts. I’ve been approached both overseas and within Nigeria by drug dealers.”

He further adds, “They would unexpectedly show up at your hotel and initiate business discussions. They would mention other successful individuals who were making substantial profits from drug trafficking. However, I understood the dangers involved.”

“For me, it was crucial to be able to sleep peacefully at night without the fear of the police or any law enforcement agencies. Hence, from the very beginning, I made a conscious effort to keep things simple and prioritize my happiness.”
