The National Chairman of Action Alliance, Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, has called on Nigerians to prioritize local production and reduce dependence on imports. In his statement congratulating Nigerians on the country’s 63rd independence anniversary, Omo-Aje emphasized the need for a local content framework that promotes self-reliance.
Omo-Aje expressed concern over the negative impact of the country’s obsession with foreign tastes, which has contributed to the devaluation of the Naira. He believes that Nigeria, with its vast resources and potential, has the capacity to feed and stabilize the African subregion by boosting its export potential.
Highlighting Nigeria’s youthful population as a valuable asset, Omo-Aje stressed the importance of harnessing their potential effectively. He called on President Bola Tinubu to focus on neglected areas to prevent the birth of a potential crisis that could hinder the nation’s development. Omo-Aje believes that Nigeria’s history will soon become a global case study of tolerance and adaptability.
Despite the numerous challenges facing the country, Omo-Aje commended Nigerians for their resilience and ability to remain happy. He urged Nigerians to approach the electoral process with caution and work towards a future where there is less litigation following elections.
While acknowledging the importance of challenging election results in cases of dissent, Omo-Aje expressed hope for a Nigeria that can accept defeat graciously and learn from the experience. This, he believes, will save the nation valuable resources and prevent the unnecessary backlog of judicial cases due to election petitions.
