Nigeria at 63: Wike Vows to Enhance Infrastructure Development in Abuja

The Minister of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr Nyesom Wike, has pledged to enhance the infrastructural development of the FCT and improve essential social services to meet the growing needs of the residents. This commitment was expressed in a statement signed by the Director of Press, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, and made available to journalists in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Wike called on the residents of Nigeria’s capital city to recommit themselves to the vision of a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria. He emphasized that building a strong and resilient society requires the collective efforts of all residents. This entails working together to address issues in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and security. The Minister also stressed the importance of fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship that empowers the youth and creates opportunities for all.

As residents of the FCT, Wike reminded them that they are not only Nigerians but also representatives of the nation’s diversity and unity. He emphasized that the FCT should be a place where unity thrives, differences are celebrated, and the tenets of nationhood are exemplified. Independence Day is not merely a date on the calendar but a reminder of the sacrifices made by the forebears and the dreams they held for a united and prosperous Nigeria.

Over the past 63 years, Nigeria has faced numerous challenges and triumphs. The country’s journey has been marked by moments of joy and sorrow, progress and setbacks. However, Nigeria has remained steadfast, resilient, and hopeful. In the FCT, where diversity is a strength, residents should remember their unique role and live up to the tenets of unity that the capital represents. Building bridges across cultures, religions, and ethnicities is crucial.

In commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary, Wike, on behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), made a solemn commitment to tirelessly work towards creating a more livable and prosperous Abuja. He reminded fellow residents of their obligation to society, extending warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations on this special occasion.

Building the Abuja of the founding fathers’ dreams is a monumental task that cannot be accomplished by the FCTA alone. It is a collective endeavor that requires the active participation and commitment of every resident. Wike urged all FCT residents to fulfill their civic responsibilities, including paying taxes promptly. This includes ground rents and utility bills, which are crucial for sustaining and enhancing the services and infrastructure that make the city function smoothly.

The Minister called upon every resident to join hands in making Abuja a great city. Together, they can build the FCT of their collective dreams, one that stands as a beacon of progress, unity, and prosperity for all. As Nigeria celebrates Independence Day, Wike emphasized the need for a sense of purpose and commitment to building a better future for generations to come. He expressed confidence that with unwavering resolve, Nigeria’s best days are yet to come.

Once again, Wike extended warm congratulations on this special day, praying for God’s blessings on the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory. He expressed hope that God would guide the nation on the path to becoming stronger, more resilient, and prosperous.
