Independence Anniversary: Governor Sani Urges Consensus Building for the Future of Nigeria

In commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called on the Nigerian elite to come together and work towards building consensus on the future direction of the country.

Reflecting on the lofty expectations that accompanied the country’s independence in 1960, Governor Sani lamented the fact that, more than six decades later, Nigeria is still grappling with the challenge of forging a truly Nigerian spirit. He emphasized that ethnic and religious differences continue to be exploited for personal or collective gain, hindering the nation’s progress.

“It is disheartening that we are still struggling to address key developmental challenges, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and security,” Governor Sani expressed. “The escalating poverty rate is a matter of great concern for political leaders.”

In order to tackle the prevailing security challenges, Governor Sani proposed that Nigeria resume its role as a peacekeeping force in West Africa and Africa at large. He called on Nigerians to unite and support their security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other forms of criminality.

The Governor reassured the people of Kaduna State that his administration is dedicated to ensuring the security of the state and rebuilding trust within its communities. This will be achieved by upholding justice, equity, and fair play while prioritizing the needs of the poor.

As a demonstration of this commitment, Governor Sani announced the establishment of the Financial Inclusion and Literacy Committee. This committee will facilitate the inclusion of the poor, vulnerable, and underserved in rural areas in social intervention programs initiated by the state and federal governments.

“Rural Transformation is a core objective of our administration. Through extensive infrastructural development, we aim to revitalize the rural economies and ensure that every citizen feels the positive impact of the government,” Governor Sani stated. “No part of the state will be left behind.”

Furthermore, the Governor expressed his desire to restore Kaduna State to its rightful place as the melting pot of Nigerian nationalities. He appealed for the support and cooperation of the citizens in building the Kaduna State of their collective dreams.
