FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Dismisses Abuja Protesters Over Sacked Company Heads

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed those protesting and expressing their grievances over the sacking of 21 directors and heads of government-owned companies. In an uncompromising statement, Wike asserted that their protests would only result in a wasteful expenditure of time and energy.

Wike made it clear that no sentiments or emotions would sway his determination to do what is right for the nation’s capital. The dismissal of the 21 heads of parastatals, agencies, and companies of the FCT Administration, including Najeeb Abdulsalam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company (AUMTCO), has sparked outcry among staff and the public.

Responding to the outcry, Wike asked, “If you have been performing admirably, where are the buses?” He further added, “We will not be moved by videos of people shedding tears, claiming someone has been unjustly removed. Our focus is on the tangible results on the ground.”

Addressing suggestions that certain individuals should be exempt from retirement due to their perceived competence, Wike stated, “Even as a minister, I can be relieved of my position now. There is no need for tears, as new individuals will come in and, as always, our hope is for the best.”
