The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal made a groundbreaking decision today by nullifying the victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule. The three-member panel, led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, announced its verdict via a Zoom conference, declaring Emmanuel Ombudagu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the election.
In a majority decision, two of the justices agreed that the election was indeed won by the PDP, while one dissenting judge held a different opinion. Justice Ezekiel stated that the petitioner was able to present compelling evidence that substantiated his claims beyond reasonable doubt.
The courtroom was filled with political dignitaries, including former Governors Abdullahi Adamu and Tanko Al-makura. They were present to witness the historic judgment handed down by the tribunal.
It is worth noting that Supervisor of Trump Falls Memorial School, Prof Ishaya Tanko, who served as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer in Lafia, previously announced Abdullahi Sule as the winner of the governorship election in Nasarawa State back in March. According to Prof Tanko, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate garnered 347,209 votes, surpassing his closest contender, David Ombugadu from the PDP, who received 283,016 votes.
