The Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) has expressed its commendation for the Federal Government and organised labour for reaching a resolution to avert an indefinite nationwide strike.
Mr Smatt Oyerinde, the Director-General of NECA, conveyed this commendation during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
The threat of an indefinite strike was issued by organised labour in response to the adverse impact of the removal of fuel subsidy, which has caused immense hardship to the masses.
Oyerinde emphasised that the resolution of the logjam deserves recognition and validation. This development reinforces our consistent position that social dialogue remains the most effective approach for resolving any issue.
He added, “It is important to highlight that the unnecessary disruption of economic activities has been successfully averted.
“The government must now fulfil its commitment and adhere to the terms of the resolution, while labour must strive for improved productivity to facilitate economic advancement and national development.
“Employers will continue to advocate for a peaceful industrial environment as a fundamental pillar for economic and national progress,” he stated.
