Senate cautions Tinubu govt against extra-budgetary expenditure

The Nigerian Senate has warned President Bola Tinubu against unlawful spending.

The lawmakers suggested the President to hunt a supplementary price range for its Compressed Natural Gas initiative.

The Senate via its Committee on Gas, led by Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe, urged the chief arm of presidency to expeditiously current a 2023 Supplementary Budget to the National Assembly to kick-start the Compressed Natural Gas challenge.

The lawmakers insisted that the regulation was against extra-budgetary spending.

The committee’s chairman who counseled Tinubu for the CNG initiative, nevertheless, warned that it will be unlawful to spend taxpayers’ cash with out approval by the National Assembly.
