Rep members raise concern over continuous closure of NASS main gate

Member of the House of Representatives, Sada Soli has raised considerations over the continuous closure of the National Assembly (NASS) main gate, making entry to the premises tough.

Soli stated this when he moved a movement below a matter of privilege throughout plenary in Abuja on Thursday.

He stated though the renovation of the NASS advanced has been accomplished, the main gate remained below lock and keys.

Soli stated the continued closure of the gate posed a big menace to individuals, significantly in gentle of the massive quantity of people who gathered on the National Assembly on Oct 4.

“Yesterday, there was a gridlock because the sole access gate leading to the premises was locked, access to the premises is becoming increasingly challenging.

“I appeal to the NASS management to promptly open this gate, as members are finding it difficult to enter. We are jeopardising our safety by parking vehicles on the main roads,” he stated.

He stated, within the occasion of an emergency, what would the lawmakers and workers of NASS do.

Lawmaker, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa (APC-Kano) additionally voiced his settlement with Soli’s observations, saying, “I want to make it clear that the responsibility of handling the NASS gate current status falls on the FCDA, not on the management of NASS,” NAN quoted him as saying.

Following the commentary, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu invited the FCDA to a gathering on Friday by 12pm, to resolve the matter.

“Tomorrow, we will convene at the deputy speaker’s office to address this matter,” he stated.
