‘We are not under pressure to defend NPFL title’ — Enyimba coach, Finidi George

Enyimba head coach, Finidi George, says his team won’t put too much pressure on themselves as they look to defend the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, title.

The nine-time NPFL champions will begin their campaign against Gombe United on Sunday.

The match is billed for the Pantami Stadium.

Finidi stressed that the team won’t be pressured in winning the title again.

“We are coming into the season as defending champions but we won’t allow that to put us under any pressure,” he told the club’s website.

“We have already had discussions with the players and we have made them understand that one thing we must do is stick to our ideologies.

“This is a long season that will have the good moments and the difficult ones, but whatever the case, wet must stick to our ideologies. That is what will give us an identity and give us a chance.

“I understand that the fans have high expectations, but at the same time I am confident that the players we have can deliver. We are all motivated and ready to go at it again.”
