President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, which is now approaching completion after years of neglect, has the potential to create 500,000 job opportunities once it is designated as a free trade zone. The President made this revelation during the flag-off of the Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign, held in Lokoja, where he was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
President Tinubu affirmed his commitment to fully capitalize on the capabilities of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, as its successful completion would not only attract foreign direct investment to Nigeria, but also provide a conducive business environment for various industries to thrive.
Addressing a massive gathering at Lokoja’s Muhammadu Buhari Square, Vice President Shettima also highlighted Tinubu’s dedication to completing the construction of the Kabba-Lokoja and the Abuja-Lokoja roads.
Vice President Shettima described President Tinubu as a visionary leader who is determined to reposition Nigeria through restructuring and stimulating the country’s economy. He further emphasized the importance of having a Governor in Kogi State who is supportive of the federal government’s initiatives, stating, “We must be partners in progress and work hand in hand to develop this great nation.”
Crop Processing and Development Expansion
The Vice President also revealed the Tinubu administration’s plans to actualize the Itakpe crop processing project. He emphasized that the current government is dedicated to creating jobs and providing affordable education. Vice President Shettima assured the citizens that their well-being would always be a top priority and called on the people of Kogi State to show their support by voting for the APC candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on November 11. This, he asserted, would ensure the continuous progress of the APC government’s achievements in the state.
He further announced that President Tinubu has given approval for the rehabilitation of the Obajana-Okene road in Kogi State, underlining the administration’s commitment to harnessing the natural resources of Kogi State for the development of the state and the nation as a whole.
Support and Aspirations
Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for agreeing to launch the governorship campaign in the state. He emphasized that his administration has achieved significant milestones in areas such as security, education, and healthcare, and stressed the importance of consolidating these achievements to propel Kogi State forward. Governor Bello urged the people of the state to vote for the APC candidate in order to move the state towards further progress.
The APC governorship candidate, Ahmed Ododo, pledged to involve the people of Kogi State in his administration if elected. He reiterated his commitment to the development agenda of the state.
