John Mikel Obi Hopes Victor Osimhen Joins Chelsea: The Nigerian Midfielder Backs Napoli Striker for Premier League Success

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has voiced his desire for Victor Osimhen to join Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window. The Nigerian international, who now plays for Napoli, has earned the support of Mikel Obi as he awaits a potential move to the London-based club.

Mikel Obi believes that Osimhen possesses the qualities that Premier League clubs seek in a striker. Speaking on The Obi One podcast, the former Chelsea star expressed his confidence in Osimhen’s ability to thrive in the English top-flight.

“I think he [Victor Osimhen] would seamlessly fit into the Premier League. He has all the tools to be successful in England,” said Mikel Obi.

Reflecting on Osimhen’s progress over the years, Mikel Obi admitted that his opinion has changed. He now firmly believes in Osimhen’s potential.

“When I look back at him a few years ago, I would have said ‘no.’ But now, watching him last season and this season, I would definitely say ‘yes,'” Mikel Obi explained.

Speaking about the qualities Osimhen possesses, Mikel Obi emphasized the importance of having a striker who can make runs behind defenders, stretch the opposition’s defense, and create goal-scoring opportunities.

“He would come into the Premier League and fit right in. He has the ability to score goals, run behind defenders, and stretch the team. Many Premier League teams are looking for this type of striker. It helps open up the game and create chances for the team. I am confident that Victor [Osimhen] can provide this,” said Mikel Obi.

While Mikel Obi expressed his desire for Osimhen to join Chelsea, he acknowledged the rumors linking the striker to Manchester United.

“I hope you come to Chelsea. But from noises that I hear, he is leaning towards Manchester United. However, I truly hope he ends up at Chelsea,” Mikel Obi revealed.
