In the midst of an ongoing multi-front attack by Gaza militants, the Romanian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday morning that Romania and Hungary have successfully flown 460 of their citizens out of Israel in a coordinated effort.
Romanian Evacuation Efforts
Among the evacuees, 245 Romanian nationals were safely transported out of Israel. This was made possible by four planes, two of which belonged to the state-owned airline TAROM, while the other two were chartered from private airlines. Notably, two groups of pilgrims were also included in the Romanian evacuation.
Hungarian Airlift Operation
Serving as a response to the large-scale attack by Hamas militants on Israel, two military planes from the Hungarian Air Force successfully airlifted 215 Hungarian citizens out of Tel Aviv. The aircraft later touched down at Budapest airport on Monday morning, as confirmed by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Facebook. Remarkably, the two standby aircraft used for this operation were Airbus A319 planes, which are part of the Hungarian government’s fleet.
