Explosion at Lafia Filling Station Leaves Six Injured

At least six people have been injured following a devastating explosion at Sandaji Filling Station in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The incident occurred on Monday around 12 pm when a petroleum tanker exploded while discharging its product.

Comfort Igwe, a pump attendant at the filling station, witnessed the terrifying event. She explained that it took the joint efforts of the fire service, the Red Cross Society, the police, and other security agencies to extinguish the fire and restore normalcy to the area.

According to witnesses, the explosion also caused extensive damage to property worth millions of naira at the filling station. Staff members of the filling station and officials from the Nasarawa State Fire Service were among those injured in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

Mr. Ombugu Joshua, the Acting Director of the Nasarawa State Fire Service, stated that the cause of the outbreak is still unknown and under investigation.
