The Chief of Army Staff has called on the troops of 81 Division to uphold the law and ensure compliance with the laws of Lagos State.

In a statement issued by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army Chief emphasized this message while addressing the troops of 81 Division in Lagos State, Nigeria.

The Army Chief assured the troops that their welfare, as well as that of their families, would be given the utmost priority under his administration. He urged them to remain dedicated in the fight against insecurity in their respective areas of responsibility.

Commitment to Security

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Mohammed Usman, briefed the COAS on the security situation in the division’s area of responsibility. He expressed appreciation for the Chief’s support and affirmed the division’s commitment to the Nigerian Army’s mission by adhering to the COAS’ command philosophy.

Promoting Safety and Welfare

During his visit to Lagos, General Lagbaja commissioned a newly constructed Fire Station at Bonny Cantonment, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding lives and property. The station will not only serve the cantonment but also support emergency and response agencies when the need arises.

The COAS also inaugurated 30 newly constructed blocks of flats at 174 Battalion, Odogunyan Barracks, Ikorodu, Lagos state. These accommodations are intended for soldiers holding the rank of Corporal and below. The project was undertaken to enhance the welfare of troops and their families.

Improving Living Conditions

Additionally, the COAS commissioned the renovation and remodeling of three 12-unit Corporal Below Quarters in the barracks. These housing projects have brought immense joy to soldiers and their families, who were present at the commissioning ceremony.

General Lagbaja expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the projects and expressed confidence that they will endure the test of time.
