Allocation Announced by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)
In preparation for the 2024 pilgrimage, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has allocated 1,191 Hajj slots to Ogun State. This means that no more than 1,191 intending pilgrims from the state will be able to perform the Hajj rites next year.
First Come, First Served Basis
According to Salau Babatunde, the Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Hajj slots will be shared among intending pilgrims on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. He also revealed that NAHCON has set the initial deposit for the 2024 pilgrimage to Mecca at N4.5 million.
Payment Details
The initial deposit can be paid either through bank drafts or directly with bank tellers, which can be obtained at the board’s designated bank accounts. Babatunde urged those who made deposits during the 2023 Hajj to top up their payments to meet the current initial Hajj deposit.
State Government’s Commitment
Ensuring a memorable and fulfilling spiritual journey is a priority for the Ogun State Government. All necessary measures are being taken to make this possible.
Visa Processing Changes
Babatunde highlighted that intending pilgrims should not delay in making their initial Hajj deposits due to changes in the visa processing procedure. The issuance of visas by Saudi Arabia will now be completed at least 50 days prior to Arafat, the key Hajj ritual.
