‘Why I Used Sadiq Abubakar on my WAEC Certificate’, Atiku Responds to Forgery Allegation

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has responded to the allegations of forgery surrounding his Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) certificate.

In a statement released by Atiku’s aide, Dele Momodu, on his social media platform, X, Atiku clarified the discrepancies in his certificate, which had been raised by members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atiku’s WAEC certificate bears the name “Sadiq Abubakar,” instead of his usual name. However, Atiku explained that he used the name “Sadiq Abubakar” to sit for his exams, and after passing, he swore an affidavit to affirm that he is the same person as Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku further pointed out that he applied for university admission as Atiku Abubakar, passed his exams under that name, and was interviewed by the Federal Civil Service Commission as Atiku Abubakar. He was also hired into the Customs Service using the same name. Therefore, Atiku questioned the credibility of the forgery allegations.

Momodu shared Atiku’s response on social media, calling out the APC and urging them to forward the flood of questions in circulation to their own party members for a direct response.

As the controversy surrounding Atiku’s certificate unfolds, the PDP Presidential candidate continues to maintain his innocence, asserting that there is no forgery involved in his academic credentials.
