Federal Capital Territory Administration Seizes 69 Illegal Commercial Vehicles

In a bid to maintain the safety and cleanliness of Abuja city, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has impounded 69 vehicles for various offences.

The Director of the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Service (DRTS), Abdul-Lateef Bello, revealed on Monday that these vehicle seizures were part of an ongoing operation to eliminate illegal operators of commercial vehicles within the city.

The combined Security Task Force of the FCT apprehended these vehicles at different locations in Abuja, with the primary aim of enhancing the security of lives and property in the city.

Bello explained that the reasons for impounding these vehicles ranged from improper parking, operation of substandard vehicles, violations of number plate regulations, to suspicion of involvement in one-chance scams and other infractions.

He further emphasized the FCT Administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that the city remains free from all forms of disturbances and nuisances.

Bello also stated that the owners of the impounded vehicles would face legal prosecution through the FCT Mobile Court, located within the premises of the DRTS.
