Israeli Airstrikes Displace 264,000 Palestinians in Gaza – UN

The United Nations’ humanitarian relief agency has reported that Israeli airstrikes against Hamas militants have resulted in the displacement of approximately 264,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. These displaced individuals are currently seeking shelter in school buildings, with relatives, or with neighbors, according to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The recent large-scale attack launched by Hamas, the militant group in control of Gaza, on Israel has precipitated these airstrikes. Tragically, this offensive has resulted in the loss of at least 1,200 lives, with approximately 100 individuals reported as kidnapped.

In response to the Hamas attack, Israel has continued their airstrikes on the densely populated coastal enclave. Gaza’s health officials report that these ongoing attacks have led to the death of at least 900 individuals.

OCHA’s report highlights that Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple residential buildings in Gaza. Additionally, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza, these airstrikes have resulted in the destruction or severe damage of over 1,500 housing units. Moreover, five facilities that provided water and sanitation for half a million people have been damaged.

It is crucial to note that the Gaza Strip is home to over two million people, making the impact of these airstrikes on the Palestinian territory devastating.
