Jordan’s King Abdullah II Declares Support for Palestine in Israeli-Hamas Conflict

In the midst of the long-standing conflict between Israel and Hamas, King Abdullah II of Jordan has expressed his support for Palestine. He firmly stated that peace in the Middle East can only be achieved if there is an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that controls Gaza, recently launched a significant attack on Israel, resulting in the deaths of over 1,200 people and the kidnapping of approximately 150 others. In response, Israeli forces carried out retaliatory airstrikes in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 900 individuals.

During a speech at the opening of a new parliamentary session on Wednesday, King Abdullah addressed deputies and emphasized the necessity of a just and comprehensive peace solution. He firmly stated, “Our region will never be secure nor stable without achieving just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution.”

King Abdullah highlighted that there cannot be stability, security, or peace in the region without the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders. He further added, “A Palestinian independent and sovereign state should be on June 4th, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and so that the cycles of killing, whose ultimate victims are innocent civilians, end.”

The King’s declaration of support for Palestine in the Israeli-Hamas conflict holds significant weight, as it underscores the importance of finding a peaceful resolution and bringing an end to the violence that has claimed countless innocent lives.
